Cloud Costs & CFO Leadership: Controlling Spend or Driving Change?

<span id="hs_cos_wrapper_name" class="hs_cos_wrapper hs_cos_wrapper_meta_field hs_cos_wrapper_type_text" style="" data-hs-cos-general-type="meta_field" data-hs-cos-type="text" >Cloud Costs & CFO Leadership: Controlling Spend or Driving Change?</span>

Date 01 October 2024

Does the CFO have to rethink their role when working in a product-based organization running at scale in the cloud?

If an organization’s cloud spend is > $5M and growing does the CFO have to transition from a controller to a change agent and bring others in the technology team along on that journey?

The difference in these approaches has significance to the tune of millions of dollars in opex and direct impact on the bottom line.

Find out in our latest podcast where we take a deep dive into cloud cost optimization from the perspective of Jeff Laborde, a seasoned technology company CFO with multiple to-the-cloud transitions, including his most recent one with JAGGAER, a procurement and spend management optimization provider of enterprise SaaS solutions.

Jeff will share his insights on what has worked from real life examples in getting technology teams to manage cloud spend more effectively and making it more predictable.

The background – like many PE backed firms, JAGGAER was navigating the consolidation of multiple acquisitions with teams, technologies, customers and hosting sites in different geographies. The company moved to the cloud to simplify its technology landscape and improve the performance and reliability of the services it delivers to its customers.

Moving to the cloud is one challenge; the bigger challenge was how to manage costs into the cloud in a fast-growing SaaS business and, just as importantly, manage the cross-functional mindset change required to continue to optimize costs relative to performance once the business is in the cloud.

Join Jeff Laborde, CFO JAGGAER, and Capacitas co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer Dr Manzoor Mohammed for our latest audio event to get a CFO’s perspective on the following topics:

  • Why cloud costs are so important for a CFO

  • How a CFO rethinks his role in this complex ecosystem

  • What internal barriers need to be overcome in terms of skills, culture and technology – and how

  • What role the CFO in overcoming these barriers

  • How to build a capability in the organisation that delivers long-term savings and predictable cloud spend
